The Castle of Meux is located 5 miles east of Jonzac.
Reconstructed at the end of the Hundred Years’ War on the ruins of a fortress, this mansion presents a beautiful Renaissance architecture: stair tower adorned with the “cagouille saintongeaise”, large carved stone fireplaces, and mullioned windows soberly decorated.
Roses are everywhere, on the outbuildings surrounding the courtyard, in the French-style garden bed, and in the park where they are mixed with other flowers and trees.
