This ancient 12th century fortified castle, twice destroyed during the Hundred Years war, was rebuilt in the 15th century. Several kings resided here, namely Saint Louis in 1247 and Charles VIII in 1493 who received the Florentine ambassadors. In August the same year, his wife Anne de Bretagne gave birth to a son who didn''t survive here.
After many vicissitudes in the 20th century, it has undergone restoration work since 2000
