The Grenade convent was founded in 1626 by the Ursulines of Toulouse. It was one of the main religious buildings of this important walled town situated near the confluence of the Garonne and the Save. The 60 nuns of the convent educated the girls in the area during 177 years. They were expelled in 1793 and the building was turned into a military hospital.
The duke of Wellington stayed here during the Toulouse battle. The building is still undergoing numerous transformations. Being restored since 1965, the ancient convent is now open to visits.
