The castle (excluding the north wing), the little castle and the chapel were built in the late 15th century, the outbuildings as for them were built in the 17th and 18th centuries.
Of Renaissance architecture, the structure was built for Nicolas de Draqueville, councillor at the Parliament, who bought in 1555 an ancient medieval manor.
The latter might have been inhabited by Raoul de Bonnemare, hero of the Two-Lovers lay of Marie de France.
