The de Vécé family has been known as early as the 14th century. A Guillaume de Veccei is mentioned in a declaration to Lord de Bourbon, in 1300. Besides, there is another fief in Vesset, since in 1301, squire Perrin de Cincé makes an acknowledgement to Lord de Bourbon of « wood, meadows, taxes and customs, justice and domain... », which he shares with the other lords of Vesset, for 18 livres of annual loan.
Then came the de Chappes, the Meschins who transmitted the land by marriage in 1427 to the Villars, lords de Puyfol.
In 1631, the la Guiche, lords de la Palisse, exchanged the Motte-Vesset for the domain de Rozières to Michel de Provers.
But the latter didn't keep it for long and in 1697, it belonged to a tanner of Moulins, Jacques Charnan, then a little after to the Voisin family who bequeathed it in 1749 to the Bruns who kept it until the late 19th century.

The château de Vesset welcomes you from now on in bed-and-breakfasts or gite, to share with you « the spirit of the place ».
