At the heart of the Normandie region, the castle of Versainville goes up in the middle of a park with secular trees. We go into the main yard through a wrought-iron gate which dates from Louis XIV.
There is a large main builging, linked to a gallery ended on the left by a pavilion.
The construction was decided in the 18th-c. by François-Joseph de Marguerit. In 1888, Gildippe de Versainville-Odoard, the heir, gets married at Versainville to the Comte Pierre de La Rochefoucauld, duc de La Roche-Guyon. Their third son, Comte Bernard de La Rochefoucauld, born in 1901, inherits the castle. After the Second World War, the castle and the park, widely stripped, are taken over by the automobile group Ford, and then by the PSA Peugeot-Citroen group.
In 2002, the La Rochefoucauld family gets back the castle.
Today the family wants to give back to those places the rank they deserve in the historical, cultural and natural regional heritage.
