Facing the Brehat Island, l'Ile à bois, which main house doesn't have more than 50 years, is nevertheless very ingraved in the history of France.
With a surface of about 15 ha, it's strategically located in he estuaries of Trieux, river that control the access to the full water port of Lezardrieux.
Since the 17th century, a gun battery and a guard post were built on the island to defend the coast against the english privateers raids.
During the occupation, the german army mad of it an important element of the atlantic wall and linked it to the continent with a permanent dike.

The island, made of moors, woods and prairies, is croosed by grassy paths, convenient for meditation, walks and all the pleasures of the sea.
The fantastic view extends until the fisherman village of Loguivy de la Mer, the arcipelago of Brehat, Maudez island and the Sillon of Talbert... Those exceptionnal landscapes have always attracted painters and inspired famous artists as Paul Signac, Henri Rivière, Charles Lapicque... and even Matisse, who stayed as it is said, in the village close to Kermouster..

  1. chaussepied charles 2 November 2014
