On the road of Saint Jacques Coeur, the castle of La Verrerie goes back to 1422, when the king Charles VII gave the county of Aubigny to Jean Stuart, count of Darnley, supreme comander of Scotland in recognition of its good and faithful services during the Hundred Uears war, in the battle against the english people.
At the end if the 15th century, Beraud Stuart, great-son of Jean Stuart, built the main building between the chapel and the Renaissance style gallery, built in 1525 by its son-in-law, comrade in arms of Bayard.
A little glass factory located at that time by the side of the lake, but demolished in 1815, inspired the name "La Verrerie".

In 1824, the castle ans the lands of Aubigny are bought by Léonce de Vogüe, grandfather of the present owners.
Since 1993, the count Beraud de Vogüe and his family back from Canada and USA, took over the family business.
