Presentation

Listed as one of the oldest properties in Médoc, the beautiful medieval Tower jealously guards the treasures of the troubadours, the soul of Michel de Montaigne and La Boétie, whose names have been given to the two stately period guest rooms. It is a Château full of character, which has proudly admired its reflection in the shimmering moat for 900 years and which can only be reached by an elegant drawbridge. Whether tasting its Grand Cru Classé Haut Médoc or celebrating the literary awards held there every year, the Château La Tour Carnet captivates writers and great wine lovers alike.

With its two beautiful guest rooms and dining-room complete with its imposing table, La Tour Carnet is a unique place you can have to yourself for an intimate, timeless holiday.

Guesthouses

Bedrooms

- Medieval chamber Michel de Montaigne, prestige guest room (24 m²)
Revel in the luxury of this medieval bedchamber, with its carved oak Renaissance four-poster bed resting on a handmade terracotta-tiled floor.
Let your thoughts roam in the magic of the Middle Ages, where folk tales of old and sovereignty reign. Lions among gilded leaves on the bed canopy, bronze rams on the bedside lamps, and aristocratic gold-embroidered red velvet armchairs on either side of the fireplace decorated with holly leaves complete the décor. Royal blue drapes, red fabrics and embroidered Fleurs de Lys are all reminiscent of its medieval history.
The bathroom has an air of the Roman baths about it, with its vaulted ceiling, antique tiled floor and black Marquina marble.

- Medieval chamber La Boétie, prestige guest room (23 m²)
A stay in this remarkable guest room is a truly awesome experience. The walls are adorned in the same marble used for busts of the Roman emperors, a Byzantine console complete with lions’ heads stands out in this custom-made décor and bunches of grapes and vine leaves adorn the fabrics and carved posts of the four-poster bed. Cradled among the red, gold, green and bronze hues, guests experience for themselves the overpowering magic of times gone by. The battle scenes carved into the woodwork and the medieval traditions which decorate the exposed beams of the ceilings, tell of History and its conquests. Chosen with the utmost attention, the fabrics worthy of English royal palaces, the silk and velvet drapes, the damask armchairs and the Genoese velvet bedspread are all silky, refined archives. Finally, in the bathroom with its whitewashed walls, the silver faucets take the form of the black swans of the moat.

The rooms have Wi-Fi access and a TV. The price includes the privatization of the castle.

The vineyards and the production

It's under the leadership of Angelique Raymond-Luetkens that the castle La Tour Carret, for the quality of its wine, will be rewarded in 1855, appearing on the list of classified "Grands crus", at the occasion of the Paris world fair.
At that time, La Tour Carret wineyard covers 52 hectares gradually distroyed by the phylloxera, the vineyard knows, like most of the classified Grands crus, an eclipse period.
We have to wait until 1962, to see again little by little the almost abandoned property reborn of its ashes.

In 1999, Bernard Magrez starts a restoration and renovation program.
This program consists of raising La Tour Carret, of a total surface of 126 hectares for 48 hectares of vineyard, not only at the level of excellence recognized in the great moment of its 8 centuries of existence but also of excite of the most original soils of Medoc with all the knowledge and techniques of today.

The wines of Château La Tour Carret, classified Grands crus of Medoc:
- Château La Tour Carret - red
- Château La Tour Carret - white
- The dovers of La Tour Carret - red
- Sire of Château La Tour Carret - red
